    Event description

Wetland Stories Exhibition:  Postcards to the Future

Do you love our wetlands and want to share what's important to you with the future generations?

Join us for a fun and creative watercolour workshop where you will paint wetland scenes on postcards and write a message to future Mandurah residents of 2050.

Your postcards will be displayed in the gallery then become part of a time capsule for Mandurah residents of 2050.

The workshop is suitable for school age children ages 5 - 12 years. All children under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult. Adults do not need to purchase a ticket unless you want to paint along too. Participants will have the opportunity to try pan watercolours, aqua sticks, aqua pencils and crayons, and discover how to mix and blend colours, create textures and effects, and express their own style. They will also write a message to future generations on the postcards. Participants will apply postage stamps, a custom Mandurah/Mandjoogoordap postal cancellation stamp before ‘posting’ the postcards to the 2050 Mandurah Mayor.

The workshop will be facilitated by local artist Marie Mitchell, who will provide guidance and feedback to the participants on their art compositions and messages.

    • All supplies and materials provided
    • Maximum of 10 participants to maintain quality individual instruction
