The Green Beetle Company tells stories long forgotten, which have not yet been told. In this hands-on creative workshop, we will design, draw, and create a shadow puppet so we can perform an original story together, based on a rarely-told version of the legend of the Tortoise and the Hare. Let your imagination take flight with a vibrant Egyptian shadow puppet screen in the khayal al-zill tradition, accompanied by live music.

Join Dr Sam Bowker of Charles Sturt University and classically-trained singer Melinda Bowker in this experimental re-telling of Aesop's fable. Tortoise and Hare follows their collaborative performances for Goha and The Flea (2025), The Alchemist's Jar (2023), and Thief of Stars (2021).
