This event is designed for children of all ages to cook-along with supervision from a parent or guardian, the oven or cook top will be used, depending on which session you come along to.

Webinar 1: Thursday 18th - 11am-12pm - Veggie Fritters

Fritters are a super tasty quick meal you can whip up for breakfast, lunch or dinner. It is one of our favourite dishes at our community lunches. You can use any vegetables you like for this recipe, such as:

shredded scraps such as clean potato, carrot or pumpkin skins or peel
grated cauliflower or broccoli stems
leftover roast veggies
frozen veggies such as peas or beans
excess leafy greens & stems such as spinach or kale
leftover herbs such as basil, coriander or mint
left-over cooked lentils or rice

You’ll need: knife, chopping board, tongs/spatula, medium saucepan, mixing bowl, paper towel, grater, measuring cups & spoons

2 ½ cups veggie scraps, julienned or grated
⅓ cup (100g) ricotta, cottage cheese or firm silken tofu
3 eggs or 300g silken tofu
¾ cup plain flour/breadcrumbs or GF alternative
1 ½ tsp baking powder
2 tablespoons fresh herbs or a selection of dried herbs
¾ cup (100g) feta/parmesan/cheddar cheese or nutritional yeast (optional)
salt and pepper to taste
100ml cooking oil such as olive oil, grapeseed, peanut canola or sunflower oil

Webinar 2: Thursday 19th - 4-5pm - Seasonal Fruit Crumble

This is one of our favourite, tried and tested recipes at Open Table. It’s perfect for imperfect fruit like apples, pears, stone fruit or berries. We use whatever we get or mix them together. Serves 6-8.

You’ll need:

500g ripe seasonal fruit, such as apple or stone fruit, cored and diced
½ tbsp water (leave out if using berries or stone fruit)
Herbs and/or spices, optional

2-3 tbs sugar/maple syrup/honey
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp orange zest
1 ½ cups rolled oats
¼ cup desiccated coconut or nut meal
3 tbs olive oil
