Event description

KIN UNPLUGGED AUTUMN

KIN Unplugged is a ‘drop and leave’ school holiday program for 6-12 year olds, that allows children to freely explore their world and community with the support of Nature Educators and Mentors.

Each session runs from 9am to 4pm and costs $100 per child. We have an average staff to child ratio of 1:8. All staff have a Working with Children Check, at least two staff at each session are first aid trained and at least one has a water rescue qualification (where applicable).

KIN Unplugged provides space for children to spend the day immersed in the processes of nature connection. The design of the program requires minimal equipment and focusses on the concept of a central hub that will be the base for exploration and adventures. Our Nature Educators and Mentors will work alongside children to explore natural spaces and reserves to foster a deeper understanding of nature. The structure of the program allows for flexibility to follow children’s natural energy levels throughout the day which enables children to work as a team without feeling forced or held back. Children feel they are truly heard and acknowledged and are therefore more open to be guided into nature connection by our mentors. Nature will also direct the program and we will respond to what the animals, birds, plants and weather bring to us for the day.

At a ‘regular’ KIN Unplugged day (although no two are ever identical) children have the opportunity to:

  • Connect with mentors, leaders and other children.
  • Explore nature, find animals, insects and plants.
  • Develop a deeper understanding of the surrounding natural area.
  • Play Wilderness Awareness Games.
  • Find natural mysteries to track and try to solve.
  • Use all the senses to create nature art

Please note that children must have turned 6 years of age to attend KIN Unplugged.
