Event description

It's spring! Join us for a guided walk at Kinchina Conservation Park to explore and observe some of the flora of the park.

Guided by Senior Project Officer Ben Simon, we will walk along the designated walking trail and stop to chat about the flora and diversity in the park as we go.

We will have some identification sheets available on the day, or feel free to bring your own books/resources if you have any.

Kinchina Conservation Park covers approximately 414 Hectares and is the largest stand of native vegetation in the Monarto area. There are sections of grassy woodland in the park which is habitat for threatened birds such as the diamond firetail and restless flycatcher. Rare and threatened plants including Monarto mintbush and Menzel’s wattle are also present in the park.

Meet at the carpark/gate on Maurice Road, a few hundred metres west of Mobilong. We will have the Second Nature sign out on the day.

Important Information:

  • The trail is uneven, and there may be some inclines and declines as part of the walk. A moderate level of fitness is recommended
  • As we are in a Conservation Park there are no toilet facilities
  • Please ensure to BYO sufficient drinking water and wear appropriate clothing and footwear for bushwalking
  • Participants under 18 years of age will need to be accompanied by a responsible adult

This project is part of our Monarto to Tungkillo Biodiversity Link Project and is supported by the Murraylands and Riverland Landscape Board through funding from the landscape levies.
