Kindness Club (Base Program)
Event description
Join us at the sanctuary for our school holiday program, Kindness Club. This hands-on, interactive experience for children aged 6-12 provides children with the opportunity to engage with the animals and philosophy of Edgar’s Mission.
Kindness Club aims to foster compassion and respect for farmed animals, and the work of Edgar’s Mission, in a new generation of advocates for change! We know that children already demonstrate a natural disposition to form close relationships with animals, and Kindness Club builds on this with a tailor-made educational program that is also fun and interactive.
Consistent with Edgar’s Mission’s approach, the agency and autonomy of animals is paramount at all times. As such, animal interactions can’t be guaranteed (although we will do our best!). We kindly ask that you manage your child’s expectations to avoid disappointment.
The program is led by a qualified teacher with the support of Edgar’s Mission volunteers.
Biosecurity
To keep our animals safe from disease, please follow these important biosecurity measures:
- If you are an Australian citizen who has travelled overseas or an international citizen in ANY country outside of Australia, please do not visit the sanctuary for 7 days after your return as per the Victorian Government directive. Please contact us if you have booked a visit and this applies to you.
- If you have visited a factory/intensive farm do not visit the sanctuary for 7 days.
- Please ensure your footwear, clothing and equipment is free of any mud, animal manure or other contaminants before visiting.
- It is essential upon arrival at Edgar’s Mission, that you step on the foot bath at the entrance to ensure your shoes are clean.
Thank you in anticipation of your kindness and cooperation. Please remember that biosecurity is EVERYONE’S responsibility.
