The first book we will discuss is:
Alive With History: Kings Cross, Potts Point, Rushcutters Bay, Elizabeth Bay & Woolloomooloo in the Good Old Bad Old Days by Warren Fahey.
Sydney's inner-east is alive with history and stories of high-life, low-life and some very low life. All five precincts from the 'Loo to the Cross' have been entertainment destinations for well over a century. For decades, Kings Cross and Potts Point were the only parts of Sydney awake after 10 pm, when most of Australia was safely tucked in bed.
Author Warren Fahey is an Australian folklore collector, cultural historian, author, actor, broadcaster, record and concert producer, visual artist, songwriter, performer of Australian traditional music and a longtime local. He is the founder of Folkways Music (1973), Larrikin Records (1974) and a folk music ensemble, the Larrikins (1975).
Warren Fahey will join us in the second half to convey his insights.
