Discover the ancient philosophy, studio practice, and therapeutic essence of Kintsugi (golden joinery) adapted for works on paper. In traditional Kintsugi, broken ceramic vessels are mended using lacquer and gold dust, transforming structural damage into illuminated history. This workshop translates those core principles—embracing imperfection, honoring memory, and celebrating resilience—into two-dimensional paper arts and creative self- reflection.

Working on paper provides a tactile, approachable medium for exploring personal metaphor. Through tearing, folding, and mending paper—whether old prints, journal entries, watercolor sheets, or family photographs—participants engage in a meditative process that parallels emotional repair. By joining paper fragments using archival adhesives, natural mica powders, and gold leaf, students learn to view personal fractures, mistakes, and scars not as defects to conceal, but as beautiful, transformative chapters in a larger creative journey.
