Event description

Access to healthy, sustainable, reliable and fair food is important for our community and local government plays a central role in making this possible.

Join us for a Kitchen Table Conversation to inform the development of the Banyule Urban Food Strategy. This in an informal dialogue with 10–12 local residents to hear and record people's thoughts around the following types of questions:

• What is our experience of the Banyule urban food system?
• What do we eat? Where do we obtain our food?
• How do we feel about price / quality / freshness / cultural appropriateness?
• Do we have particular concerns about the Banyule urban food system? If so, what are they?
• What would you like to see change about the Banyule urban food system?
• Who is responsible for those changes?

The session will be hosted by local resident Dan Milne, who has many reasons to care about the urban food system, including two young daughters, interests in ecology, permaculture and a love for cooking! Dan currently serves on the committee of Local Food Connect who run the Eltham Farmers' Market and are working to establish an urban farm adjacent to Eltham High.

Dan will provide some food and you are warmly invited to bring some food of your own to share and prompt the conversation. :-)

If you are interested in coming along, please register here. Dan will email you a small briefing pack about the session and the food system in Banyule beforehand.
