Description

Join us at Fabrik on Worldwide Knit in Public Day for an afternoon of community knitting, performance art and exhibition viewing.

Here's what will happen on the afternoon:

Experience the International Art Textile Biennale 2025:

When arriving at Fabrik you will have the opportunity to view the latest Fibre Arts Australia touring exhibition, which includes Kristi's interactive artwork titled Yearlong Thread (a large ball of yarn with knitting).

Participate in the Knitting Time performance:

Kristi will be there in the gallery knitting the Yearlong Thread yarn and she invites you to continue the knitting for her for as long as you like. Your contribution will help to grow Yearlong Thread.

Community knitting:

Knitting with others. Bring your own knitting project along to knit and chat with Kristi and other textile crafters on the day.

We look forward to knitting with you on the day.

About the artist:

Kristi Biezaite is an Australian textile artist based in Robe. Her practice explores themes of connection - to place, people, and the environment - often focusing on the relationship between material, process, and audience to evoke a sense of belonging. She works with traditional textile techniques, preparing all materials by hand - from sheep to finished piece - while increasingly incorporating performative elements to engage audiences in the experience of textile arts.

About the International Art Textile Biennale 2025:

A vibrant showcase of innovative artworks by 39 artists representing 10 countries and travelling to 9 galleries across Australia. The Biennale is dedicated to pushing the boundaries of fabric and thread, presenting pieces that explore unexpected and exciting relationships between textiles and other artistic disciplines. Presented by Fibre Arts Australia.
