Andrew is an Indian-born Australian, a distinguished academic, sound designer, and artist with a focus on the intersection of noise, culture, and country. His research and pedagogy are informed by three decades of professional media design practice, workshop facilitation and performance within Indian, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island cultures. In addition to his career and multidisciplinary/intercultural experience, he has a strong commitment to community engagement and is currently leading a Darwin-based project Knock-em-down Sound System that aims to activate the community by designing inclusive and responsive creative spaces.

Andrew’s art is influenced by traditional Indian knowledge and is known for creating intimate, tactile, and site-responsive listening experiences that transform acoustic energies into flexible, experiential forms. Belletty is a founding member of the Indigenous band Yothu Yindi and has a career spanning over three decades in fine arts and media.

Belletty is currently a Post-Doctoral Research Associate with the Design Lab at the University of Sydney and holds a PhD in Visual Anthropology from the College of Fine Arts, University of New South Wales and has also served as the Head of Sound at the Australian Film, Television and Radio School for 7 years.
