Hear from Associate Professor Celeste Rodriguez Louro, Deputy Chair of the UWA Generative AI Think Tank

In this session, A/Prof. Louro will share her insights on advising UWA and the Government on Generative AI, and offer an academic perspective on the future of AI. The talk will be followed by an interactive Q&A.

About the Speaker: Associate Professor Celeste Rodriguez Louro is Director of the Language Lab and Linguistics Discipline Chair at The University of Western Australia. She is Deputy Chair of UWA’s Generative AI Think Tank and was recently awarded a prestigious 2026 Visiting Fellowship at All Souls College, University of Oxford.

Celeste’s work spans language change, decolonisation, and inclusive technologies, with funding through the Australian Research Council and impactful industry partnerships including Google and the Heart Foundation. She has a strong public presence through award-winning teaching, research, and outreach. Her current book project, co-authored with Noongar scholar Glenys Collard, is under contract with Cambridge University Press.
