Know Your Workplace Rights: An Information Session
Have you recently started a new job or are you looking to understand your entitlements at work? Perhaps you need guidance on where to go regarding workplace issues? The Women's Working Centre is here to help with a free information session for all UC students (including international students) designed to empower you with the knowledge you need.
Join us for "Know Your Workplace Rights," an essential session where you'll gain valuable information into your workplace rights in Australia and how to navigate common issues. This event is presented by the Working Women's Centre, an organisation dedicated to building safe, respectful, and equitable workplaces for women, trans, and gender-diverse people in the Canberra region. They achieve this by:
· Building awareness and understanding of workplace rights and entitlements.
· Providing access to free legal advice, assistance, and advocacy.
· Advocating for systemic reform on gendered workplace issues.
During this session, you'll hear from experienced employment lawyers:
· Laura Wood is an independent contract lawyer who is dedicated to helping clients resolve workplace issues and understand their rights, with experience in a wide range of employment matters. Laura's diverse legal background and commitment to human rights shapes her practice.
· Zhenia Kavunenko, the Program Manager for the Working Women's Centre, has a decade of experience in community justice projects and policy. She is passionate about empowering individuals to understand their rights, enabling them to make informed decisions about their lives.
