Knowledge Is Power Workshop Series
Event description
We are now inviting community members to express your interest to join us for "Knowledge is Power", a series of intensive workshops to prevent domestic and family violence (DFV) in Queensland.
As a participant, our workshops will give you a comprehensive understanding of DFV, its impact on well-being, and how to avoid it through self-empowerment. Through our workshops, you will reflect on your past experiences, learn from your successes and challenges, and develop skills to plan and achieve your goals. You will also build resilience to face any future crisis or disaster. Finally, it is a golden opportunity to learn how creative writing can heal trauma.
Dr Heba Mohtady Ali will facilitate the workshops. She is an Egyptian-born novelist and medical academic (Professor), and her entire life journey has been directed towards bettering lives. Her novels are about empowering women and describe the unfairness and oppression targeting many women from different parts of the world. She aims to enhance the resilience of CALD groups in Australia by showing the ways for free expression through creative writing and sharing experiences with like-minded people.
The creative art workshops will be facilitated by Prital Tina Yeganeh, a skilled visual artist. The concept is about self-expression and empowerment through arts. This is an opportunity for participants to create a number of exceptional artwork.
Workshops are for free, but registration is essential. Registration includes attendance to all ten workshop sessions, beginning on 15 May.
More details will be sent to those who register.
This project has been funded by Queensland Government - Office for Women – Safe and Diverse Communities Grants Program.
