Join us on Tue 11 March to celebrate this year's International Day of Maths theme: Mathematics, Art and Creativity!

This philanthropically funded afternoon doubles as a community event for adults and students aged 8+ AND a professional learning opportunity for teachers.

Together we'll explore a range of artworks and enjoy beautiful maths concepts along the way.

This will be a safe and inclusive space for people of all levels of art and mathematics backgrounds — your host is a teacher who used to be scared of maths!

Please note: Any students (aged 8-17) will need to be accompanied by an adult guardian.

Structured Workshop:

This will begin with short introduction to get us started on our afternoon #mathart journey.

We'll then move into some art appreciation activities and discussions. You'll be invited to consider which artworks you like most and why, and there'll be an opportunity to create a mini-mathematical artwork if you wish ✨

There'll be rich conversations and plenty of mathematical art, creativity and innovative ideas to take away into your life and/or teaching practice.

Session Facilitator:

Alex Box is an experienced teacher specialising in Mathematics Curriculum and Pedagogy. She enjoys bringing educators together to engage in positive, playful and empowering maths discussions, and to enjoy learning with and from each other's unique individual and shared experiences. As a formerly maths-anxious student and teacher herself, Alex brings important perspective to conversations about maths teaching and learning.
