In response to the alarming decline in koala populations across New South Wales, Richmond Landcare proudly announces the launch of the Koala Connect: Habitat Restoration and Connectivity Project. The project aims to revitalise and connect koala habitats in the critical regions of Lismore and Ballina, addressing the multifaceted challenges faced by these iconic marsupials.

The project is set to launch at The Channon Hall, with an exciting array of speakers who will share their knowledge about this much-loved species, their habitat, what threatens their survival and how we can support our local populations.

Speakers include: Friends of the Koala, Goanna Ecological, Reconeco & Biolink.

Learn about

  • Local koala food trees & habitat- what healthy habitat looks like, and how we can support it
  • How to search for koalas & how to report koala citings
  • Insights on local koala activity
  • How scent detection dogs are being used in koala conservation efforts (including a live demonstration)
  • How to tell if a koala is sick or injured & how to report a koala in need of help
  • What threatens koala populations & what we can do to reduce those threats

A delicious morning tea will be provided.
