KOOII – Live From The Kennel

The third in an ongoing series of live recording sessions held inside The Kennel, Browndog Productions’ film studio in Paddington, Brisbane.

One of Justin’s favourite groups, Kooii returns to the city where their journey began for a night of connection — with the music, your dance and each other. Set within The Kennel’s leafy rainforest surrounds, the evening invites you to revitalise your creative spirit and imagination.

Kooii’s music is a vibrant field of African, jazz and reggae influences. While most of the group’s songs are seeded by founder Peter Hunt, it is the collective influence of every member that creates their pulsating tapestry of rhythm and harmony.

It has been a year of flow for the band, beginning with the inspiration of Woodford Folk Festival and continuing with their first Camp Out gathering in the Natural Bridge hinterland this past May. Now, as they enter the early stages of recording a new album — their first release in roughly 14 years — they invite Brisbane followers and anyone curious about the Kooii experience to share in generating the energy and character of this next phase.

Original drummer Dom Hede and bassist Tommy Sexton join Peter Hunt (vocals/trumpet), alongside guitarists Travis Jenkins and Linden Lester. Expect a journey through familiar grooves, interwoven with the vitality of their current flow.

The evening will open with singer-songwriter Simba, followed by drinks and more tunes on the deck after the show.
