"Monday Night Confessions" is a weekly show presenting original jazz/improvised music. Run out of Church Street Studios in Camperdown, Sydney, we acknowledge the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, and pay our respects to their elders past, present and emerging.

Kooptet

Peter Koopman - guitar

For the past decade, guitarist, composer and New Zealander Peter Koopman has called Sydney home. Drawing inspiration from Oceania’s rich and diverse music scene, he has developed a unique voice on the guitar, characterised by a warm, earthy tone and a playful melodic and rhythmic sense, and in 2022 was the winner of the prestigious Australian National Jazz Awards held at the Wangaratta jazz festival.

The following year he released his debut album as a leader - "Now Where?", a collection of seven original tunes recorded live at Golden Retriever studios with Tim Firth on drums, Lachlan Hamilton on tenor sax and Jacques Emery on double bass. He has been recorded on several albums and has performed with artists such as Will Vinson, Ben Vanderwal, Sean Wayland, Vince Jones, Aloe Blacc, Donny Benét and many others, as well as touring around Europe, the UK, USA, Asia and New Zealand.
