Description

Enjoy the spring wildflowers as part of the 2026 Everlasting King's Park Festival in a creative way with this outdoor activity, guided by your curiosity. Whether you're a nature journalling novice or already have experience, all skill levels are welcome to join artist and scientist Dr Kim Lapere to celebrate in the burst of colour and life this spring. Discover how nature journalling is a useful technique to learn about your surroundings while also being a relaxing way to connect with nature.

Kim will cover the basics of nature journalling, lead some exercises, give a demonstration and share some of her journal pages and from books for inspiration. You will have time to explore the wildflowers and nearby Botanic Garden with Kim encouraging and guiding you along the way.

Capture your curiosity and knowledge of the natural world onto your pages in this beginner-friendly 2.5 hr workshop where you will:

  • Discover the benefits of nature journalling and why people practice it

  • Learn how to use the basic nature journalling prompts to record your observations

  • Practice drawing techniques to get you sketching even without any artistic experience

  • Be introduced to different journalling styles to inspire you

  • Have fun being creative and learning about the natural world
