Event description

Join us for a special evening celebrating two decades of dedication to avalanche education, safety training, and snowpack information for the San Francisco Peaks and Kachina Peaks Wilderness of Northern Arizona. This milestone is not just a reflection of our journey—it’s a testament to the incredible individuals, organizations, and supporters who have been with us every step of the way.

Food and Beverage: Oscars Burritos Fiesta, Mother Road, and Dark Sky Brewery

The evening will feature an inspiring storytelling event that spans the entire history of the Kachina Peaks Avalanche Center. Three chapters will guide you through:

  • The Origins – Discover Lee Dexter and Art Pundt’s story of foundation snow science research during the 1980s that contributed to the Kachina Peaks Avalanche Center’s vision.
  • The Early Days – Hear David Lovejoy and BJ Boyle recount the challenges and triumphs of the early years when our fledgling center came to life and gradually took flight.
  • The Modern Day and Future – Learn from Troy Marino and Mathieu Brown how we’ve grown to serve the community and our exciting plans for the future of avalanche safety.

This celebration is also a heartfelt expression of gratitude for the many people who have contributed to our success. From our founding members to longtime partners, and from dedicated volunteers to passionate advocates, we are honored to invite many of these individuals as our VIP guests. Your unwavering support has made all the difference.

Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate 20 years of impact, collaboration, and community. We can’t wait to see you, and thank you in person for being part of our story.
