Kudos Live
Event description
Join us for Kudos Live, a one-night-only event showcasing some of the best up and coming performance artists from UNSW Art and Design, SCA and NAS. Kudos is excited to be partnering with Australia’s leading organisation for the development and presentation of experimental art, Performance Space!! The showcase will happen on the 14th of August at Carriageworks, Track 8.
This years theme is JADE/D: overworked, overexposed, worn down. Dreams of the good life seem distant, even impossible. Yet, contained within the adjective is the noun: jade. A tough, glassy, green stone, holding meanings of harmony, eternity and virtue.
The “d” in jade/d might refer to depletion or dissolution—jade becoming jaded—where the stone’s traditional connotations of peace and endurance seem out of reach, replaced by a more cynical view of the future. What can jade, as a symbol of ancient wisdom, offer in our current moment defined by late capitalism, growing precarity and ever-splintering division? In a time of precarity can live art cut through the jadedness—or reflect it? Is the artist resisting fatigue, or embodying it?
Registration is free, so grab a ticket now whilst you can. Limited tickets will be made available on the night.
We excited to see you there!
