Kura ki Pakihi Digital Equity pitch night
Event description
Are you involved in the technology industry in Ōtautahi and interested in connecting with local youth to solve digital equity challenges? The Kura ki Pakihi digital equity pitch night is the event you don’t want to miss.
As part of the Ōtautahi Learning Days 2022 festival, four groups of secondary ākonga from schools in Canterbury will be pitching their solutions for digital equity challenges posed by local businesses and civic groups.
The pitches showcase the innovation, creativity and problem solving skills of the students. The challenges engaged the students to think about:
- How might we design an online portal for people with irritable bowel disease and their health professionals? (Stratos Technology Partners)
- How might we enable access to technology for ALL people, regardless of socio-economic status? (Smart Christchurch - Christchurch City Council)
- How might we improve access to the highly paid jobs available in this fast-growing sector for those who currently lack the awareness, knowledge, skills and/or resources? (Canterbury Tech)
We invite you to stay after the presentations for some drinks and light refreshments. Christchurch City Council are also kindly providing a tour of the council chambers.
Come and be wowed by what’s possible when students and industry unite to solve gnarly challenges!
This event will be filmed to share with the wider community.
Guest speakers: Christchurch City Council, Dr Hana O’Regan (CORE Education) and Garry Williams (Ministry of Education)
