KURANDA ROOTS TURNS 21!

July 14th - 16th we will come together at the base of the breathtaking Emerald Creek Falls (Kanjini, Camp 2) to connect and celebrate the abundance of culture, art, music and nature that flourishes in tropical North Queensland. Kuranda Roots is a three day, all ages, family friendly camp out on stunning Buluwai / Djabugay country half an hour from Kuranda village and 15 minutes from Mareeba.

Since its inception the festival has played host to a huge range of reggae and bass music stars and this year will see Australia’s number 1 reggae crew The Strides headline the main stage.

The Strides are a force for Reggae music, fronted by roots man Ras Roni from Barbados, Fijian MC LTL GZeus and Sierra Leonian ragga powerhouse Blaka C, The Strides deliver a musical experience that is as explosive as it is authentic. The Strides’ music faithfully builds on the foundations of classic roots reggae with a hip-hop edge, forging a sound that brings together modern dance hall, dub beats and reggae-pop.

Representing the Bristol sound are UK producer extraordinaire Chris Munky and SubTribe front man RayJah 45 on the mic. Joining them are Kuranda’s Roots Reggae superstars Zennith, the legendary The Pad Boys, Djawarray and the Mayi Wunba Dancers, reggae soulman Broden Tyrell with Isa Maka, African singing percussionist Gabriel Otu, Kuranda’s own Zami Coleman aka Z.D.C, hip hop producer Diggis, Sydney refugee and new FNQ local JC Funkdafied, the rising star of the outdoor festival scene Komorebi, Cairns’ wild funk of Manuka, the venerable DJ Solomon, Walsh River’s Bent Intent and Old Man River, South American reggae crew Amazonas, Tastey Dj, Zoey Sutra, Quinzalez, Djinna & Celestino, Billy Dread, Faux Mo, Toshi Sakamoto, Rizon, Scout, Lucy Gallant, Dubcide, The Sugarfunk Fairies, Elementary Hifi and many more!

There will be a range of exciting workshops including spear throwing, firestick making, yoga, coconut frond weaving, African drumming, Fire toys and Hula Hooping.

Our market village will have a range of delicious food to cater to all diets and an array of creative craft stalls.

Please remember Kuranda Roots is a drug and alcohol free event. Kanjini is a wildlife sanctuary and there is a strict No Dogs policy. Please take all your rubbish with you and leave no trace (especially foodscraps)
