KWOOP 2025 Parliamentary Breakfast
Event description
We are thrilled to invite you to the 9th Annual Keeping Women Out of Prison (KWOOP) Parliament House Breakfast. This year's event promises to be our most impactful yet, bringing together leaders, advocates and changemakers dedicated to transforming the lives of women affected by the criminal justice system. Join us for a morning of inspiration and action in the Stranger's Dining Room at Parliament House on Wednesday 19 March at 7:15am.
We are honoured to have two powerful voices in women's advocacy co-hosting this year's breakfast. The Hon. Jodie Harrison, MP, Minister for Women, Minister for Seniors, and Minister for the Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, together with The Hon. Natasha Maclaren-Jones, MLC, Shadow Minister for Families and Communities, Shadow Minister for Disability Inclusion, Shadow Minister for Homelessness, Shadow Minister for Youth, Shadow Minister for Women, and Shadow Minister for Prevention of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault
This year's breakfast marks a significant milestone as we officially launch the KWOOP Community of Practice. While our Community of Practice has already garnered a groundswell of support, we're excited to formally introduce this initiative. The launch represents a crucial step in our ongoing efforts to foster collaboration, share knowledge and drive positive change for women in the criminal justice system.
By attending this event, you'll have the opportunity to network with key decision-makers and fellow advocates, learn about KWOOP's vision and progress, and contribute to the conversation on creating better outcomes for women and children. You'll hear from Professor Emerita Eileen Baldry AO, as well as a panel of women with lived experience that will be expertly facilitated by Nicole Yade, CEO of WAGEC. Most importantly, you'll be part of the movement to halve the rate of women's imprisonment in NSW by 2030, with a particular focus on reducing incarceration rates for First Nations women.
The Keeping Women Out of Prison Coalition is a powerful alliance of individuals and organisations committed to positive change. Our members include service providers, philanthropic organisations, not-for-profit groups, universities and women with lived experience of the criminal justice system. Together, we're working towards a future where fewer women face imprisonment, focusing our efforts on advocacy, programmatic initiatives and raising awareness to drive systemic change.
Your attendance and support help fuel KWOOP's vital work. Funds raised through the KWOOP Sub Fund of the Sydney Community Foundation directly contribute to our advocacy and programs. We encourage you to reserve your place today and join us in shaping a more just future for women in NSW.
Don't miss this opportunity to be part of a transformative morning and witness the launch of our Community of Practice.
