Koorie Youth Council 20th Anniversary Celebration
Event description
Koorie Youth Council (KYC) are proud to announce that we are celebrating 20 years of advocacy!
Join us in celebrating two decades of work at the Koorie Youth Council 20th Anniversary Celebration!
This momentous event promises to be a day of reflection, connection, and celebration as we commemorate the remarkable journey of the KYC since its inception in 2003. We extend an invitation to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people, their families, communities, and Elders to celebrate with us.
This event is open to everyone committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth and preserving our stories for the next generation of storytellers, leaders, and advocates.
About the Koorie Youth Council:
KYC was established in 2003 as the Victorian Indigenous Youth Advisory Council (VIYAC). KYC came out of the then Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Commission (ATSIC), a nationally appointed body which operated from 1990-2004. VIYAC was created with the support of the Victorian Aboriginal community and Youth Affairs Council of Victoria (YACVic). In 2012, VIYAC became known as the Koorie Youth Council. Since then, the Koorie Youth Council has been at the forefront of advocating for the rights, interests, and well-being of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people across Victoria. Over the past 20 years, our dedicated team has worked tirelessly to amplify the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people living in Victoria.
