L.U.N.A Film Festival

The L.U.N.A  film festival is an educational, community-centered event showcasing narratives by communities and for communities impacted by incarceration. Each film will be accompanied by a panel and/or community activity as an educational experience for community members and political changemakers. 

L.U.N.A  will also showcase the art and resilience of our community by hosting local vendors, offering reentry resources, and tabling opportunities for local grassroots organizations. L.U.N.A  aims to empower individuals, to engage organizations, and educate communities on the pressing issues of youth and adult justice, the prison industrial complex, and community safety towards long-term sustainable policy changes and healing practices.

Beyond Walls- is an organizing initiative featuring documentary films that define and amplify what prison–industrial complex abolition means, while inspiring people to imagine and take action toward a world without policing.

Million Dollar Cage- Los Angeles County has the largest juvenile justice system in the country, and for too long, Black and brown youth in Los Angeles have been shuttled into a system that looks to cages over care. Kent Mendoza, was one of those young people, and now works to make sure our kids won’t face a similar fate. This film follows his journey as he fights to transform L.A. County’s youth justice system and create alternatives to incarceration.
