    Event description

Colorful soundscapes directly from the Caribbean side of Colombia, with gaitas and cumbia, ISU TAKI has been waiting long to collab with this beautiful band: La Descarga

    🔥

With over 10 years in the scene, La Descarga has delighted so many of who inhabit this side of the world. They have played in many of Australia’s most recognised festivals including MOOMBA, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Darwin Festival, Brunswick Music Festival, Australian Multicultural Festival, White Night Melbourne, Reservoir Stomp, Frankston Ventana Fiesta and Darebin Music Feast.

And if that's not good enough, ISU TAKI curated a DJ line-up to immerse you deeply into Colombian musical diversity. It will display a selection of mestizo rhythms native to this incredibly beautiful tropical piece of land. With some explorations to the south-west in the Afro-Colombian Pacifico and their traditional Kalimbas, or to the Caribean (also Afro) north-east with their tamboras and gaitas, through their more recent Afro-futurism from across the main cities, Colombia has that cheerful and energetic signature that will make you take off your shoes and just dance while being unaware of the time. We will bring all of that and more, right to your locals in Ressa mate!

This event takes place on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation. ISU TAKI respectfully acknowledges elders past, present and emerging. We acknowledge ancient knowledge not only from Kuli Nation, but all across both continents: Australia and Abya Yala. Always was, always will be.
