La Fenice Masterclass: Commedia dell'Arte di Antonio Fava
Event description
La Fenice company members Kate Meehan, Tobie Minor, and Adam Rodriguez spent a month training with Antonio Fava at ArsComica in Reggio Emilia, Italy this summer. Join the La Fenice Company Members as we share what we learned on our travels and the ways in which Fava's methodology for adapting Commedia dell'Arte performance to modern audiences compares to La Fenice's approach.
No previous Commedia dell'Arte training is required, but we recommend you at least review this crash course before attending.
Kate Meehan has been performing and teaching Commedia dell'Arte since 1996. She has an MA in Theatre History and Criticism from Texas State University, and penned a chapter in the internationally distributed Routledge Companion for Commedia dell'Arte (2014) with another, much more fun book on the topic forthcoming.
Tobie Minor is the Director of Stage Violence and Intimacy at Texas State University and an Advanced Actor Combatant with the Society of American Fight Directors.
Adam Rodriguez is an award winning actor and playwright, currently performing and penning new material weekly for Austin's famed Esther's Follies.
Antonio Fava is an internationally acclaimed Commedia dell'Arte practitioner and mask maker based in Reggio Emilia. His work delves deeply into regional stock characters, most specifically Pulcinella.
