Peace Labs: Culivating Dialogue
Description
In this experiential lab, we will explore what happens between two people when real conversation is attempted — where connection is found, where it breaks down, and what it takes to stay present with another person rather than simply waiting for our turn to speak. Through guided reflection, partner and small-group practices, shared inquiry, and practical exercises, participants will learn to recognize the habits that pull us out of real dialogue and discover ways to return to genuine, embodied connection with one another.
What happens to a conversation when we stop trying to be understood and start trying to understand?
What We'll Explore
What real listening feels like in the body, versus waiting to respond
The habits that quietly derail dialogue — fixing, defending, comparing, rehearsing
The difference between hearing someone and truly receiving them
How disagreement and discomfort can be held without shutting down or taking over
Simple practices for staying present when a conversation gets hard
How dialogue changes when we approach the other person as whole, not as an obstacle
The relationship between real listening, humility, and peace
What You'll Take With You
A clearer understanding of your own listening and speaking patterns
Practical tools for staying present during difficult conversations
An increased ability to receive another person without rushing to respond
Greater awareness of what pulls you out of connection, and what brings you back
A more compassionate way of meeting disagreement
Practices that can be used with partners, colleagues, family, and friends
What to Expect
Peace Labs are small, participatory gatherings where ideas become practices. Rather than sitting through a lecture, participants are invited into reflection, dialogue, guided exercises, and direct experience.
Participation is always invitational. You are welcome to engage at the level that feels right for you.
No previous meditation, or mindfulness experience is necessary.
To ensure this work has depth and safety, we intentionally keep it intimate, as a small-group practice space,
