Try your hand at a very simple lace pattern that yields impressive results. Participants should already know how to Cast On, Knit and Purl, Cast Off.
Learn how to:
Recognise garter stitch ridges to determine your place to in the pattern
Check if you really did increase where you were supposed to; and compensate for mistakes.
This is a very forgiving pattern, and errors can become undetectable in the finished shawl or ‘shawlette’.
Tuition: $50;
Single skein kit: $29
Double skein kit: $39. The kit will be available for separate purchase on the day of the workshop.
Chose a one-skein Shawlette (135cm x 55cm), a little something to put around your shoulders if the air conditioning is too cold, or a two-skein Shawl (180cm x 75cm) that you can snuggle into.
The kit contains:
Pattern
1 (or 2) skeins of colour-changing yarn (acrylic and non-pilling)
One set 5.5mm circular needles (you will work back and forth as though you have two separate needles. The cable is needed to hold the work as it increases in width.)
Stitch markers.
Your Tutor: With almost 60 years of experience, Josephine has extensive knowledge of knitting. She teaches knitting to others and regularly adds new techniques, patterns, and methods to her skill set.
