LA Fixit Clinic in NoHo
Event description
This event is dedicated to Textiles, Jewelry, Bikes, and non-electronic Toys. We will not be repairing anything that is not in these categories.
Please Read First.
We often discard items that stop working and opt for new ones instead of repairing them. This creates a significant problem for our environment because our landfills are filling up too quickly, and electronic waste is a major contributor to pollution.
To help address this issue, we encourage you to learn how to fix things instead of throwing them away. Whether it's electronics, appliances, computers, toys, bicycles, clothes, or other items, bring them to us for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. We'll provide you with a workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you disassemble and identify problems. Even if we cannot fix your item, you'll learn more about how it works and how it was made.
This is a family-friendly event, and we welcome children of all ages to come and learn with us.
We hope to see you there!

FAQs
Does pre-RSVP save a spot?
RSVP'ing beforehand lets us know what to expect when recruiting a volunteer with that skill and expedites the check-in process. It does not mean you have a guaranteed spot, and you do not get priority over walk-ins. This event is first-come, first-served. If you arrive as a walk-in or pre-RSVP at noon, you will be served when a spot (or specific skilled coach) is available. Why RSVP? Because you will receive reminder emails and updates on upcoming events, while the walk-ins do not. Please note we will not serve anyone who arrives after 2:30 pm.
How is the parking?
There is plenty of street parking available.
How many items can I bring to the event?
Please bring ONE ITEM that needs to be repaired. We will try our best to solve the problem, but not every case is a success. Additional items brought in will be listed as walk-ins and serviced on a case-by-case basis.
What items do you not repair?
This event is special. We will repair the following items.
Textiles (clothing, linens, stuffed animals, etc)
Jewelry
Bicycles (we will not have anyone on site who can fix an electric bicycle)
How does the clothing swap work?
Easy, just bring items that you no longer wear, but are clean and gently used (without holes), and swap them with anything available on the tables. In September, we focus on adult clothing, and in October, we shift our attention to children's clothing. Various Buy Nothing Groups in North Hollywood host these swaps.
How can I get up-to-date information?
Go to https://events.humanitix.com/host/lafixitclinic and follow us. You'll be the first to know when we add a new event.
How can I volunteer with the LA Fixit Clinics?
LA Fixit Clinics is about neighbors helping neighbors. When you RSVP, you can choose to volunteer for the day. If you want to volunteer for more opportunities all over LA County, please follow the link below to complete an application form. Click here for the application.
Does this cost money?
This event is free to attend, but it is not a drop-off and fix event. Instead, it is a hands-on event where participants can learn how to repair their items with the help of our expert coaches.
What if my item needs a replacement part?
As this is a free event, we do not provide replacement parts. If your item requires additional or replacement parts, you will be responsible for any costs incurred. The attendees are responsible for purchasing and bringing the necessary parts on the day of the event.
Will you accept walk-ins?
We will accept walk-ins if time permits, but this depends on how quickly we can repair the items of pre-RSVP'd attendees.
Do you take donations of tools and supplies?
Oh boy, do we. If you have any old tools you no longer need, please bring them to the upcoming LA Fixit Clinic or email us at info@lafixitclinic.org to arrange a drop-off location.
