Event description

Landcare Spring Campout for Young Adults

Join Greater Sydney Landcare's Wildventure Landcare and Creating Canopies programs for an awesome weekend getting back to nature! This is a great chance to connect with peers, learn new skills, and have fun in the bush.

When: Friday, 31st October - Sunday, 2nd November 2025

Where: A private property in South Maroota (Hills Shire LGA), near Pitt Town/Windsor. The exact address will be sent to attendees closer to the date.

Arrival: Arrive Friday night after 4 pm to get the full weekend experience, settle in, and meet everyone before a big day on Saturday. Saturday arrival is also optional if you can't make it Friday evening!

The Weekend's Activities

Get ready for a packed weekend of fun, learning, and nature! Here's a taste of what we have planned:

  • Friday: Kick off the weekend with a scary movie (it's Halloween!) and some games!

  • Saturday: Start your day with some morning yoga. The day will be filled with activities to choose from, including:

    • A Bushcare walk to explore the property.

    • A Bioblitz walk to discover local wildlife.

    • Creative workshops like weaving and making your own beeswax wraps.

    • Learn how to use trail cameras and go bird watching.

    • Chill out with lawn games in the afternoon.

    • Gather around the campfire for a BBQ dinner.

    • An exciting night-time spotlight tour with Tom from Hooked on Nature.

  • Sunday: We'll wrap up the campout with a final morning activity TBA.

Food

If you arrive on Friday, please note it is self-catered, so you will need to bring your own dinner.

Greater Sydney Landcare will provide Saturday lunch (wraps/buns) and Saturday dinner (BBQ).

Please bring your own breakfast for Saturday and Sunday, as well as your own morning tea and any extra snacks you might want.

What to Bring

  • Tent, sleeping mat, sleeping bag, and pillow

  • Torch or headlamp

  • Camp chair and/or picnic mat

  • Wet weather gear and warm clothes (just in case!)

  • Enclosed running shoes or workboots (something you don't mind getting dirty)

  • Long-sleeved shirt and long pants for activities

  • Hat, sunscreen, and insect repellent

  • Your own breakfast, morning tea, and snacks

Transport

Public transport to the area is very limited, so carpooling is highly encouraged! If you need help with transport, Greater Sydney Landcare may be able to arrange something, subject to availability. Please get in contact with us to discuss your options.

This initative is made possible by the NSW Landcare Enabling Program, a collaboration between Local Land Services and Landcare NSW supported by the NSW Government.
