Join Mark Dober for this ONE DAY watercolour workshop on Sunday 16 April 2023 with a focus on water in the landscape. The workshop starts at 10am and finishes around 2pm, and will be held in a landscape location close to Newstead: Picnic Point at Cairn Curran (map will be provided).

Mark will demonstrate watercolour techniques and guide you step by step, increasingly giving individual attention to each artist’s work. Mark will show you how to look for a point of emphasis, how to create a composition and build your painting in stages, offering strategies working with changing light.

The workshop will end with a show and tell and wrap up of everyone’s work. This workshop is suitable for all levels of experience.

All materials provided: materials fee of $20 to be paid at the first session. You may like to bring a folding stool or chair.

Your tutor: Mark lives in Castlemaine. He makes his paintings – in oils and in watercolour – in the local landscape, as well as on regular interstate residencies (making work for regular regional gallery shows). Mark has a solo exhibition of wall-sized watercolours at Hawkesbury Regional Gallery, commencing 10 February 2023.

Mark has a PhD in Painting from Monash University. He is also a freelance art writer and produces a bi-monthly newsletter, Castlemaine Art.
