Ready to help create an artwork that will light up the Mardi Gras Parade?
Join us at La Perouse Public School on Saturday 1st February to leave your mark on the artwork that will shine on the Lapa Legends at this year's Mardi Gras Parade. All welcome!
There are two session times available:
- 10am-12pm
- 1pm-3pm
About the Workshop
The workshop will be led by the talented Dennis Golding, a Kamilaroi/Gamilaraay artist, alongside the Lapa Legends, this hands-on workshop invites you to help design the artwork for the Lapa Legends to showcase during their Mardi Gras Float. Dive into the creative process with a cape design workshop and a variety of fun, interactive activities.
Who are the Lapa Legends?
The La Pa Legends will be present for the first time at Mardi Gras this year, representing the local rainbow Aboriginal community of La Perouse. Developed through a collaborative committee approach that includes community members, Elders and members of the rainbow community, the La Pa Legends initiative showcases Aboriginal culture while creating a safe and welcoming environment for all participants.
