Leadership WA is delighted to be welcoming Dr Craig Challen SC OAM.

A defining example of courage over adversity, Craig was named Australian of the Year 2019 in recognition of the leading role he played in rescuing 12 young soccer players and their coach from a flooded cave in Chiang Rai, Thailand in 2018. He was also awarded a Star of Courage and an Order of Australia Medal for his bravery and problem-solving skills.

Craig will draw on his experience of the cave rescue and share insights into the importance of courage and resilience in the face of immense challenge.

This event is supported by the Leading Australian Resilient Communities Program, a national pilot initiative funded by the Australian Government to support leadership development in Australia’s regional communities. Leadership WA is proud to have delivered this Program in WA’s Mid West Coastal and Goldfields-Esperance regions to support leaders to meet the challenges and collectively drive the positive changes they want to see in their communities.

This face-to-face event at the University Club of Western Australia in Perth, will be live streamed to graduates of the Leading Australian Resilient Communities Program, Leadership WA's Regional Alumni and guests at venues in Esperance, Kalgoorlie and Geraldton.
