During times of world stress, such as the Depression and WWII, composers and lyricists made a huge contribution to elevating people’s spirits.Everyone listened to the radio and songs of hope and optimism were whistled and sung around the home and workplaces. Those songs often remained significant to people for the rest of their ifetimes. Late Night Radio will  perform a selection of these songs with a little background of their writers and what was happening in the world when they were popular.

'My Grandfather in law was in a band which travelled regional Victoria during the period of the great depression, they were called The Gloombusters. I was deeply touched by this and have always noticed thatmusic impacts peoples spirits’ Cherie Bridges
