/ JONATHAN ZWARTZ /

Jonathan is an ARIA Award-winning composer, double bassist, producer, songwriter, passionate live music advocate and curator. He has released three albums as a composer: The Sea, The Remembering and Forgetting of the Air, and Animarum, with all three winning multiple awards. In 2021, he was commissioned to compose a concert work for the visiting Finnish harpist and pianist Iro Haarla, which was performed for the Melbourne International Jazz Festival and Sydney International Women’s Jazz Festival in November 2022. Jonathan produced and orchestrated singer/songwriter Martha Marlow’s debut album Medicine Man.

Jonathan is a co-director of The Starfish Club, a monthly concert series celebrating its 27th year. The series features artists such as Deb Conway, Don Walker, Amanda Brown and Lindy Morrison, Leah Flanagan, Rai Thistlethwayte, Reg Mombassa and Peter O’Doherty, Steve Kilbey, Jade MacRae, Mahalia Barnes, and many more.

Seoul-born Chloe Kim is an improvising drummer at the forefront of a new wave of creative jazz music in Sydney. Chloe performs in her own exciting style, a combination of her jazz, rock and Korean heritage, informed through her studies with Simon Barker, and can be heard on her two solo albums and a range of collaborations including her co-led group Holopeak and their debut album Summit Over. Chloe was recently a featured soloist in the Sydney Festival production of Disruption! The Voice of Drums, with Jeremy Rose and the Earshift Orchestra.

/ HILARY GEDDES /

Hilary Geddes is a guitarist, improviser, and composer. She is a 2021 ABC Jazz Scholarship recipient and the 2019 recipient of the Jann Rutherford Memorial Award, which aims to assist the professional development of a young woman jazz instrumentalist who demonstrates excellence in performance, improvisation, and composition. These awards enabled Hilary to record and release her debut jazz album, Parkside (ABC Jazz), with her band, the Hilary Geddes Quartet.

Hilary is an in-demand guitarist in the Australian jazz and improvised music scenes. She has performed alongside jazz luminaries such as Mike Nock, Lakecia Benjamin (USA), and Barney McAll. She holds the guitar chair in the large ensemble Pharos and is a member of Ellen Kirkwood's Underwards.

Live at the Village has been presenting music concerts in the iconic Blue Mountains since 2009. We are dedicated to presenting the best Australian contemporary composers and musicians in an eclectic range of music styles, including world, jazz, soul, folk, and all improvised music genres. Performances occur at Springwood in the lower Blue Mountains, just over an hour west of the centre of Sydney. Live at the Village members are professional musicians of national standing and music lovers.
