Event description

Chris O is a singer-songwriter from North West lutruwita (Tasmania), who pens originals as well as playing ‘old school’ songs with an acoustic folk, blues, and roots flavour. Her mashup of grassroots music draws on a lifetime of encounters with places, people, and magic, echoing global grassroots traditions.

She’ll be bringing a few favourite ukuleles to The Launceston Ukulele Jamboree for performances, and will host a workshop on playing some great songs from the Roaring Twenties which will include basic chords and strums, typical "music hall/ragtime chord changes and song structures. Chris will also talk about ragtime/social issues of the time/and taking care with choosing songs from this period. You will learn 3 songs of the era which you can then play together.

BYO ukulele - worksheets provided to share, and can also be accessed from Chris’ website.

“Chris is a gifted songwriter, understated singer and wicked multi-instrumentalist with catholic tastes, and a penchant for inspired and creative collaborations”.
