Event description

Friday 31st March is opening night for the Launceston Ukulele Jamboree, 2023 Big Weekend O’ Fun! Our venue for the third annual event is the magnificent historic Pilgrim Church in Paterson Street, and you’re in for an absolute treat. The acoustics and visuals in this building are just fabulous, and with plenty of parking nearby, restaurants and bars within easy walking distance it’s the perfect venue to cater to our Jamboree needs.

First up is Paul Jonson all the way from New Zealand with his blues and boogie uke style (you can also catch Paul at the Saturday workshops and Saturday mini music market).

The Wild Women of Anywhere Beach are joining us from NSW with their quirky originals and colourful stage presence! Cathy Welsford & Angie Smith will also be presenting a Saturday workshop called “Hot Stuff!”

The Ukulele Scotsman is returning to Tas to run amok with his singalong naughty ditties and beautiful Celtic ballads. Graeme McColgan can also be found leading the Saturday ukulele flash mob in the Brisbane Street Mall!

Finishing the night will be Jamboree favourites, our crazy mates from the NW Coast of Tas - Don’t Tell Bruce! This madcap band of troubadours will have you playing and singing along to their party favourites and are the perfect finish to opening night! Members Dave Kirkwood, Mick Hales, Steve Quinn, Neil Gray and Shani Saint Aulbins will have you grinning and singing from start to finish!
