The ANU Crawford School of Public Policy and the UNSW Canberra Public Service Research Group (PSRG) are pleased to invite you to attend the launch of the Australian Policy Handbook: A Practical Guide to the Policymaking Process 7th Edition, co-authored by Catherine Althaus, Sarah Ball, Peter Bridgman, Glyn Davis & David Threlfall.
Hear from experts, including author Professor Glyn Davis, as they discuss the importance of public policy in Australia. There will also be an opportunity for networking with canapes and drinks.

Speakers
We will be joined by experts in the field who will discuss the importance of public policy and the role of the handbook in shaping policy-making in Australia.
Speaker: Professor Glyn Davis AC
Professor Glyn Davis AC is the Secretary to the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. Prior to this appointment, Professor Davis served as Chief Executive Officer of the Paul Ramsay Foundation, Australia's largest charitable foundation with a mission to break the cycle of disadvantage.
Professor Davis is a public policy specialist, with experience in government and higher education. In his academic life, he has served as Vice-Chancellor at the University of Melbourne and Griffith University. Until recently, he was Distinguished Professor of Political Science in the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University. He is the co-author of the Australian Public Policy Handbook. Facilitator: Professor Helen Sullivan
Professor Helen Sullivan is a public policy scholar and academic leader. Her research and teaching explore state-society relationships and their interactions with public policy systems. She is the author/editor of nine books, including Collaboration and Public Policy. Agency in the Pursuit of Public Purpose (2022). Her leadership practice focuses on institution building, innovation, and renewal in complex systems. Helen is a National Fellow of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (2017), a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (2003) and a Past President of the Australian Political Studies Association (2020-21). She currently serves as Dean of the ANU College of Asia and the Pacific at the Australian National University. Read more.
MC: Professor Helen Dickinson
Professor Helen Dickinson is a Professor of Public Research at the School of Business, UNSW Canberra and the Co-Director of the Public Service Research Group (PSRG).
Her expertise is in public services, particularly in relation to topics such as disability policy and practice, the future of the public service workforce and governance of fourth industrial revolution technologies. Read more.
Welcome: Professor Brian Schmidt AC
Professor Brian Schmidt AC is the Vice-Chancellor & President of the Australian National University. He is one of Australia's most eminent scientists. Winner of the 2011 Nobel Prize in Physics, alongside many other academic awards and distinctions, Professor Schmidt spent most of his academic career as an astrophysicist at the ANU Mount Stromlo Observatory and Research School of Astronomy and Astrophysics before becoming Vice-Chancellor.
