Description

The People's Record Live Launch & Episode 6 Recording

The People's Record is a five-episode documentary podcast series produced for 3CR Community Radio. Made by and with communities from Melbourne's public housing towers, it documents 15 years of policing, resistance, and survival in Naarm's inner city flats.

On the night of the launch, we will record Episode 6 live.

This series exists because communities decided to hold their own record of what was built inside these towers, what was done to them, and what was refused. Episode 6 asks what it means to archive as an act of resistance. Who holds the record? Who is it for? And what does it mean to document a community that the state is trying to disperse?

Join us for the launch of the series and stay for the recording. The conversation will be live.

Host Idil Ali will be in conversation with Dharug scholar-organiser Natalie Ironfield.

Natalie Ironfield is a Dharug scholar-organizer and educator living on the lands of the Wurundjeri and Boon Wurrung peoples. Natalie’s doctoral research examined the ways in which universities function as ongoing sites of colonial violence, with a particular focus on the discipline of criminology. Natalie is the Chairperson of the Institute Postcolonial Studies and over recent years has worked on several community campaigns.

Made on the land of the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nations, who have never ceded sovereignty.

This is a project of the Centre Against Racial Profiling.
