Description

Fiddler, songwriter and musical shapeshifter Laura Targett brings a captivating blend of tradition, innovation and heartfelt storytelling to the stage. Rooted in Irish fiddle traditions and inspired by the rich musical landscapes of the Balkans, the Middle East and beyond, Laura creates music that is raw, expressive and unmistakably her own.

Joined by acclaimed multi-instrumentalist Tom Botting on guitar, the duo's electrifying performances move effortlessly between driving rhythms, soaring melodies and moments of spontaneous musical magic. Their connection is seamless, their musicianship breathtaking, and every performance is infused with passion, warmth and joy.

Laura has shared stages and collaborated with internationally celebrated artists including Tim Edey, Seamus Begley, Kev Carmody, Delhi 2 Dublin, Nano Stern and James Ross (The Cat Empire). Her performances have featured at major festivals including Woodford Folk Festival, Port Fairy Folk Festival, Byron Bay Bluesfest, Splendour in the Grass, Jerash Arts Festival (Jordan), Broadstairs Folk Week (UK) and more.

This concert features music from Laura's new album, The Road to Tpot, recorded in Scotland with some of the great names of contemporary folk and world music. Blending traditional roots with fearless creativity, these new works are vibrant, deeply moving and full of life.

"Enthralling musical choices, virtuoso playing and driving rhythms."

Keith Potger AO, founding member of The Seekers, describes Laura as "A creative force… melodic, engaging, and deeply lived."

Music played with heart and soul, alive, authentic and impossible to ignore. Whether you're a lifelong folk lover or simply drawn to extraordinary live performance, this promises to be an unforgettable evening.
