LayLow Presents: MICHIEL / TERRA KIN
**TERRA KIN**
Dipping between the jazz, folk and pop scene in Glasgow for many years, Hannah Findlay has developed a unique sound which has now culminated into solo project “Terra Kin” (child of the earth). With a love for ambient soundscapes, fingerstyle guitar and “crunchy” harmony; Terra Kin offers something truly special. Their Debut Ep “Too Far Gone” achieved critical acclaim in 2022, ultimately leading them onto being awarded BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year 2023. Terra Kin’s highly anticipated return is sure to be worth the wait. Join us for a unique rendition of new music accompanied by strings.
“‘Flames’ is a starting point, and it’s infused with a rippling sense of confidence.” – Clash (Track of the Day)
“reminiscent of some of Sampha’s earliest work…the heaviest of emotions for the calmest of places.” – The Line of Best Fit
“effortless amalgamation of ambient electronics, alternative jazz and singer-songwriter sensibilities creates a genre-spanning sense of intimacy focussed around their tender, yet powerful vocals.”- Scottish Music Network
**MICHIEL**
Michiel is a musician and artist from Forres in the northeast of Scotland, based in Glasgow. His music untangles traditional folk-song, telling stories through fragmented lyrics of place, time and ecology. His creative palette has been described as "hallucinatory" by The Skinny. Early on in his career, Vic Galloway from BBC Radio 6 likened Michiel to “a future John Martyn” with “supreme talent”. Since then, Michiel’s voice and guitar playing has matured to something more distinct, establishing him as a unique voice in Scotland.
