Lazarettes & Ron Hawkins

Lazarettes are a Toronto-based alternative rock outfit that blends sharp songwriting, soaring five-part vocal harmonies and driving rhythm.  Renowned for their live performances and lyrics, the band are releasing singles in the Spring of 2026 as a lead-up to their new album, following 2025's Sweet Misery, produced by Ron Hawkins of the legendary Lowest of the Low.  The band includes five songwriters (Chris Tait, Bryce Thomas, Richard Peirce, Chris Monster and drummer Adam Warner, known for playing with artists like Jill Barber, Royal Wood, and Ron Sexsmith.

The new Lazarettes single Undertow, is a rallying cry for activation, capturing an alt-rock punk energy, urging audiences to join the battle against apathy in the face of overwhelming news cycles.  It's also a great summer banger of a tune.

Lazarettes est un groupe de rock alternatif basé à Toronto qui allie une écriture musicale pointue, des harmonies vocales à cinq voix envoûtantes et un rythme entraînant. Réputé pour ses performances scéniques et ses textes, le groupe sortira des singles au printemps 2026 en prélude à son nouvel album, qui fera suite à Sweet Misery (2025), produit par Ron Hawkins, membre du légendaire groupe Lowest of the Low. Ron Hawkins has long been revered as one of Canada’s greatest contemporary singer-songwriters. As lead singer/multi-instrumentalist and main songwriter of Canada’s legendary Lowest of the Low, Ron Hawkins has enjoyed many accolades through the years: In 1996, 2000 and again in 2005, Chart Magazine honoured the group’s 1991 debut album, Shakespeare My Butt, with spots in the top 10 of the Top 100 Canadian Albums of All Time. In 2000 and once again in 2015, Hawkins was voted Songwriter of the Year by NOW Magazine’s reader’s poll.  Also in 2000, Ron received Toronto station 102.1 The Edge’s Lifetime Achievement Award. And in that same year Ron Hawkins and the Rusty Nails won album of the year at The Indie Awards, for their album Crackstatic. In 2008 The Lowest of the Low was inducted into the Canadian Indie Rock Hall of Fame and awarded gold records for Shakespeare My Butt.

Over the years, Ron has written and released eight LOTL albums, five solo discs, three records with his band The Rusty Nails, and three records (one a double album) as Ron Hawkins and The Do Good Assassins. That’s 19 albums of original material to date plus a commemorative vinyl box set called “Shakespeare My Box” – an anthology of the entire Lowest of the Low catalogue.

His latest album with LOWEST OF THE LOW, WELCOME TO THE PLUNDERDOME, was released in 2023.

En tant que chanteur principal, multi-instrumentiste et principal compositeur du légendaire groupe canadien Lowest of the Low, Ron Hawkins a reçu de nombreuses distinctions au fil des ans : En 1996, 2000 et à nouveau en 2005, le magazine Chart a distingué le premier album du groupe, Shakespeare My Butt (1991), en le classant dans le top 10 des 100 meilleurs albums canadiens de tous les temps. En 2000, puis à nouveau en 2015, Hawkins a été élu « Auteur-compositeur de l’année » par les lecteurs du magazine NOW.
