Long Beach Fixit Clinic
Event description
Pre-registration for October 5th has ended so that we can prepare for the event. Didn't get to register? Don't worry, walk-ins are accepted on the day of the event.
Please Read First.
We often throw away things that stop working and buy new ones instead of fixing them. This creates a big problem for our environment because our landfills are filling up too quickly, and electronic waste is a significant source of pollution.Â
To help address this issue, we encourage you to learn how to fix things instead of throwing them away. Whether it's electronics, appliances, computers, toys, bicycles, clothes, or other items, please bring them to us for assessment, disassembly, and possible repair. We'll provide a workspace, specialty tools, and guidance to help you take things apart and identify problems. Even if we cannot fix your item, you'll learn more about how it works and was made.
This is a family-friendly event, and we welcome children of all ages to come and learn with us.
We hope to see you there!

FAQs
Does pre-RSVP save a spot?
RSVP'ing beforehand allows us to prepare for the event and speeds up the check-in process. However, it does not guarantee you a spot or priority over walk-ins. This event operates on a first-come, first-served basis. If you arrive as a walk-in or have pre-RSVP'd at 12:00 PM, you will be served when a spot or a specific skilled coach is available. Why should you RSVP? RSVP'd participants will receive reminder emails and updates on upcoming events, while walk-ins will not. Please note that no one will be served after 2:30 PM.
How is the parking?
Burnett Neighborhood Library has a small parking lot, and street parking is available in the neighborhood. Please plan accordingly
How many items can I bring to the event?
Please bring ONE ITEM that needs to be repaired. We will try our best to solve the problem, but not every case is a success. Additional items brought in will be listed as walk-ins and serviced on a case-by-case basis.
What items do you not repair?
We try our best when it comes to repair, and not everything is made to be repaired. We have a 67% success rate. There are some items that our program is not set up to take. One rule is if you cannot carry it in, please do not bring it.Â
Here's a list of items we cannot repair at our clinics.
- Mobile Phones and Tables
- Computer software
- Any Mac or Apple products
- Printers
How can I get up-to-date information?
Go to https://events.humanitix.com/host/lafixitclinic and follow us. You'll be the first to know when we add a new event.
How can I volunteer with the LA Fixit Clinics?
LA Fixit Clinics is about neighbors helping neighbors. When you RSVP, you can choose to volunteer for the day. If you want to volunteer for more opportunities in Burbank and/or all over LA County, please follow the link below to complete an application form. Click here for the application.
Does this cost money?
This event is free to attend, but it is not a drop-off and fix event. Instead, it is a hands-on event where participants can learn how to repair their items with the help of our expert coaches.
What if my item needs a replacement part?
As this is a free event, we do not provide replacement parts. If your item requires additional or replacement parts, you will be responsible for any costs incurred. The attendees are responsible for purchasing and bringing the necessary parts on the day of the event.
Will you accept walk-ins?
We will accept walk-ins if there is time, but it depends on how quickly we can repair the items of the pre-RSVP'd attendees.
Do you take donations of tools and supplies?
Oh boy, do we. If you have any old tools you don’t need, please bring them to the following LA Fixit Clinic and/or email us at info@lafixitclinic.org to arrange drop-off locations.
