A recently divorced sound artist dad gorges on new lows in parenting, human engagement and generally being crap.

‘The audience followed Scatterman as he talked to himself, gesticulating and staggering around a couch or playing a prepared piano while opening one beer can after another. Uncouth antics were contrasted by candid images of his family’. Le Scatterman addresses ‘the self-defeating idea of seeking the perfect life: the perfect husband, mother, child, society or artist’. Part solo concert (prepared piano/guitar/voice/synthesisers), part commedia dell’arte: Le Scatterman features unruly flashes of dark comedy, and a twist of performance art, delivered by Australia’s recalcitrant sound artist James Hullick.

In recent years Le Scatterman productions have been presented as theatre productions (2023, JOLTED Arts Space), an album (2026), and adapted into episodes on radio for PBS 106.7FM airing Sundays 10pm, 8–29 November 2021 on The Sound Barrier show, presented by Ian Parsons. A version of the project premiered at the Perth Arts Centre in 2016 supported by Tura New Music.

JOLT Arts is a registered charitable organisation for supporting sonic and visual arts creation and presentation.

JOLTED Arts Space is the building where JOLT Arts has its headquarters and facilities: 342 High St Northcote. Kindred Studios is our workshop space in the west of Melbourne.

JOLTED Arts Space presents the projects of JOLT’s in-house artists and other events by other industry artists or other organisations. JOLTED Arts Space hosts 20-30 events p/year.

JOLT Arts is an arts production house. In-house JOLT artists create shows, exhibitions, arts objects and events, and participate in career development workshop programs. Sometimes guest artists (not on our books) are invited to work with our in-house artists.

Since it’s founding, JOLT has supported people with disabilities throughout our activities.

Artists in Australia find it very difficult to access artist management companies that will support their careers. JOLT offers this support in the unique fields of contemporary music and art within the frame work of being a production company: an organisation that makes in-house productions.
