About our speaker

Rob Fyfe describes his career as an adventure and his path has been anything but linear. He joined the Air Force right out of high school before studying towards a Bachelor of Engineering at UC. He rose to be Flight Commander in charge of maintenance of the Skyhawk Squadron at the age of 24.

He has since held positions with Telecom, Bank of New Zealand, ITV in the UK and became the CEO of Air New Zealand in 2005, where he led the company for 7 years. He has also given his time to many boards, including Icebreaker, Antarctica New Zealand, Air Canada and Hammerforce.

In 2015, UC awarded Rob with an Honorary Doctorate of Commerce, and in 2021, was appointed a Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for his services to business and tourism.
