About the Offering:
Three expert entities (Institute of non-violence (IoNV), Groupwork Centre and Anne Love) are coming together to take you on a journey of reflective learning and practice.
We are combining family violence expertise, group facilitation skills and mindfulness specialisation for this unique
and tailored offering. We are opening up the space to a range of practitioners giving you the opportunity to engage
with others who you may benefit from but rarely get the chance to engage meaningfully with.
About the Program:
The program is designed for service providers from a range of service industries who are encountering
clients that are using family and domestic violence behaviours.
The program will also benefit service providers who are working with people who are experiencing family violence as this will increase their understanding of perpetrator behaviour.
You are eligible if you work in one or more of the following roles and you have clients that are using family violence:
- Men's Behaviour Change facilitator
- Family, domestic and sexual violence case manager / practitioner (including client assessments and intake)
- Group facilitator for therapeutic and/or psychoeducational programs (eg. AOD clinicians, mental health, gambling services)
- Settlement service provider and/or multicultural case manager
- Aboriginal Community-Coordinated Organisation
- LGBTIQ+ service
- Employment / housing case manager
- Aged and/or disability workers who are encountering family and domestic abusers
- Corrections case manager
- Child protection case manager
- Trauma counsellor
- Family relationships programs
- Individual private practice
Key Topics:
This training will cover the following key topics:
- Understand and implement structural intersectionality in your practice
- Understand coercive control and apply relevant intervention
- Effective cross-sector collaboration
- Identify and manage collusion
- Enhance your facilitation micro-skills (for groups and 1:1)
- Apply mindfulness practice for groupwork and 1:1 client support
- Understand and learn to use a range of simple mindfulness practices for yourself and to to use in groupwork and 1:1 client support
- Develop your self-awareness using Groupwork Centre's Community of Selves model
You will learn:
At the end of this program, participants will be better able to:
- Understand and apply family violence content around coercive control and collusion
- Understand and apply intersectional frameworks to family violence response
- Practice effective mindfulness and reflection and its use with clients who use family and domestic violence
- Understand and practice effective mindfulness and reflection and be able to use mindfulness practices with clients
- Consciously utilise facilitation micro-skills and gain a deeper knowledge of group theory and process
