Learn how to make compost with Rex Hunt

Price FREE Get tickets

Event description

Join us for an interactive hands-on workshop where you'll learn how to plan, build, and maintain a compost heap. This is a 2-hour workshop led by Rex Hunt on-site in Appleby. Participants will construct a compost together and in the process learn how to construct one themselves at home using local and seasonal materials to enrich soil life and produce healthy chemical free food.

Rex has run an organic plant nursery since 1980 and has focused on making his own compost. He has both 1 and 3-year-old compost heaps to demonstrate how they change over time, sequester carbon, and remain aerobic.

Please bring a snack + beverage, gloves, boots & hay fork (last item is not mandatory).

Event is on at 86 Highway 60 (Appleby Highway) which is the Willowgrove Organic Nursery (300 meters up from 3Brothers corner). Drive in for parking.

This event is part of Nelson Tasman Climate Action Festival. More info here.
