Event description

Want to learn to knit?

Perhaps you've started, got stuck and given up in the past?

Here's your chance to give knitting a go, with the warm and patient guidance of experienced knitter and lover of all things yarn, Molly Blain.

Molly will start by teaching basic stitches. Over two Saturday morning sessions (June 10 & 17), participants will each make a beanie! Through this process you will learn garter stitch, pearl, casting on and off and also decreasing. And the bonus is that by the end of it you'll have something to keep your head nice and warm, just as winter is setting in.

The venue is the Lounge at Ashburton Seniors Centre - but this course is not aimed at seniors! It's for adults of all ages, genders and cultures. If you have never tried knitting before or perhaps tried in the past but lost your confidence, then this workshop is for you.

Enjoy the company of a small group of others, a cosy space, the feeling of learning a new skill and the joy of creating something useful!

Needles, yarn & hot drinks provided. You don't need to bring anything with you - but something to share for morning tea might go down well!

Thanks to Molly generously volunteering her time & yarn, the cost of the 2 session workshop is just $15 to help cover venue hire.

Limited to 10 people, so get in quick if you are keen! Please only register if you can make it to both sessions. This is a great opportunity - please share and spread the word.

🧶 Since creating this event and choosing the dates, we've discovered that June 10 is actually World Knit in Public day!! 🧶
